HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS
EMERALD CORRIDOR AT AVONDALE LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT DESIGN GUIDANCE
Youngstown, OH
ECO is preparing design guidance documents for the non-profit organization The Colony in collaboration with the Mahoning County Land Bank and other local stakeholders. The project incorporates low impact development as part of site restoration and stormwater mitigation following demolition of 14 blighted properties on Youngstown’s south side. BMPs include rain gardens and permeable pavers. Other design elements include native gardens, natural playspaces and gathering places. Phase 2 of the project includes community outreach and further development of the sites; options currently being considered for Phase 2 include native meadows and food forests.
Longfellow Creek Water Quality improvement Project
Seattle, WA
ECO is part of a multi-disciplinary team that is developing concepts to improve water quality in the Longfellow Creek watershed and provide additional community benefits through infrastructure improvements in the Delridge Neighborhood of West Seattle. The project will develop a suite of options to improve water quality including combined sewer overflow reduction and stormwater treatment through natural drainage systems and green infrastructure. ECO is currently working closely with other consultants on the team to evaluate CSO storage options and siting considerations.
Mahoning River Dam Removal program management phase 1
City of Struthers, OH
The ECO team has worked closely with stakeholders and a multidisciplinary team to investigate removing the existing low-head dam along the Mahoning River located in Struthers in order to improve river habitat and water quality.
